Joseph Charles Scott, born June 3, 1948 in Troy, Illinois, died April 3, 2005 in Kings Mountain, North Carolina. He is the son of Joseph Frederick Scott of Troy, Illinois and Betty Lou (nee:Snow) Foster of Palm Harbor, Florida, and the step-son of Maxine (nee: Haase) Scott of Troy, Illinois, and Tom Foster of Palm Harbor, Florida. He is survived by 2 sisters, Mrs. Patti (Dan) Stanhope of Florida, Mitsi Longshore of North Carolina, 3 step-sisters, Mrs. Linda (Elmer) Lueker of Bridgton, Missouri, Mrs. Sandra (Larry) Benardin of Williamson, Illinois, Pamela Wyatt of Collinsville, Illinois, 2 uncles, Robert D. Scott of Mississippi, Ben Snow of Collinsville, Illinois and 1 aunt, Dorothy Snow of Collinsville, Illinois, along with numerous nephews and nieces.
Mr. Scott was born and raised in Troy, Illinois, attended and graduated from St. Paul Lutheran Elementary School, and graduated from Triad High School in 1965.Mr. Scott worked at McDonald Douglas for a year and then was drafted in the U.S.Army where he spent three years in Vietnam where he was wounded and was later given a honorable discharge. After leaving the Army, Joseph was employed for Sky Sign Company in St. Louis, Missouri. The last three years of his life he was a disk jockey in Kings Mountain for radio station W.K.M.T. He was a past member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and a member of the Troy V.F.W. Post 976 of Troy and later transferred to the Gastonia Post in Kings Mountain, North Carolina.
VISITATION: Family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Laughlin Funeral Home in Troy, Illinois. Memorial Service will immediately follow at 4 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
