John Dennis Shevchik, age 52, of Troy, passed away Sunday afternoon, October 6, 2002 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois. He was born December 6, 1949 in Long Island, New York. He earned his AAS degree from Brookdale Community College in Lincroft, New Jersey and was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He came to Troy 7 years ago, from New Jersey, when he moved with his career to work as a Senior Programmer Analyst with a Missouri pharmaceutical company. He was a member of the Highland Pistol and Rifle Club. He is survived by his wife, Rose, of Troy, his son John and daughter Wendy; twin brother Michael of Montville, New Jersey and three sisters: Barbara Grace of College Station, Texas, Patricia Jenkins of Fresno, CA, and Leigh Shevchik of Mill Valley, CA and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 pm, Wednesday, October 9, 2002, at Laughlin Funeral Home. Graveside Services with full military honors will be 10:00 am, Thursday, October 10, 2002 at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. Memorials may be made to the Backstoppers of St. Louis or to the American Diabetes Association.
