John R. O'Neill, 90, born Monday, July 3, 1933 in Sioux City, IA and passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, IL.

John was a faithful long time member of Troy Methodist Church, Troy, IL.  He served his country faithfully in the United States Army during the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Adam O'Neill; parents, John and Lorraine (nee Thorpe) O'Neill; and his sister, Mary Katherine Ausmus.

Surviving are his wife, Marcia (nee Holvig) O'Neill whom he married May 3, 1957 in Flandreau, SD; his children, Richard (Mary) O'Neill of Florissant, MO, Donna (Dave) Claypool of Peoria Heights, IL and Kristine (Dan) Field of Troy, IL; grandchildren, Erica Condra, Brian (Megan) O'Neill, Danielle (David) Hauslein, Jackie (Derek) Peterson, Bethany (Gene) Buescher, Nathan Field and Brittany (Cory) Reynolds; 12 great-grandchildren; his twin brother, William (Lois) O'Neill of Superior, WI; his sister-in-law, Arlene Lerdal of Pipestone, MN; nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.

Services will be held at 11 am on Friday, March 1, 2024 at Troy Methodist Church, with Rev. Andy Adams and Rev. Dennis Price officiating.  Interment will be in Friedens Cemetery, Troy, IL
