John B. Barberis, Sr., 81, of Collinsville, IL, born Thursday, July 18, 1940 in East St. louis, Il and passed away on Friday, February 11, 2022 at St. Louis University Hospital, St. louis, MO.

John was a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Collinsville, IL.  He was an electrician by trade and owned and operated his electrical contracting company for many years.  When he was not working or helping others he enjoyed a good hunting trip for rabbit, quail, pheasant and squirrel.  He had a green thumb in the garden and always found time for fishing.  John was an avid Kahoks Basketball fan.  He was always ready to follow the grandchildren and their sporting events enjoying watching and rooting for them.  John's family was his life and cherished all the time they spent together.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John D.  and Jennie (nee Forneris) Barberis; and his brother-in-law, Michael Faifer.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia (nee Knapp) Barberis of Collinsville, IL; his sons, John (Laura) Barberis of St. Jacob, IL, Jim (Denise) Barberis of Owensboro, KY and Joe (Nikki) Barberis of Rensselaer, IN; grandchildren, Jessica (Caleb Fagan) Barberis, John D., Jordan and Avry Barberis; his sister, Janet Faifer of Collinsville, IL; and many friends.

Visitation will be held 5 to 7 pm on Friday, February 18, at Richeson Funeral Home, Troy, IL and 9 to 10 am on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 207 Vandalia St. Collinsville, IL.

Funeral mass will be held 10 am Saturday, February, 19, 2022 at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Collinsville, IL with Fr. John Beveridge officiating.  Interment will be in Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery, Collinsville, IL.
