Joanne M. Foucek, 76, of Troy, Ill., born April 27, 1935 in Troy, Ill., died on Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, at Rosewood Care Center, following a brief illness surrounded by her family.


Joanne was president and very active in the operation of Sunnyside Nurseries Inc., of Troy, Ill. She was a member of American Nursery Landscape Association and Illinois Nursery Landscape Association. Joanne traveled extensively with the International Orchid Society in her younger years. She was known for her great knowledge of horticulture, her love of the land and all the creatures that inhabited it. She appreciated and cared for all her employees, past and present, that worked at Sunnyside Nurseries.

Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph John and Zdenka Rose, nee Fiala, Foucek; and her brother-in-law, Carl Gause.

Surviving are her sisters, Doris Gause and Joyce Gosney; nephews, Jeff (Debby) Gause, Justin Gosney and Jennifer Cary; niece Joyce Shusta; great-nephews, Jace Gause and Colten Gosney; and great-nieces, Coral Shusta and Kassi Gause.

Joanne's family will meet friends at a celebration of her life at a reception in her honor from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011, at Wiesemeyer Center in Tri-Township Park in Troy, Ill.
