Jo Anne Ramatowski, nee Keeney, 81, of Maryville, Ill., born Oct. 8, 1934, in E. St. Louis, Ill., passed away Monday, Aug. 1, 2016, at her home.
Jo Anne worked as a counter clerk at S. S. Kresge's, also in the public aid office, and worked as a claims rep for 25 years with the Social Security Administration in E. St. Louis, Ill. She gained a small following as the Social Security lady for radio station WINU in Highland, Ill., co-hosting a callin talk show on a regular schedule. Jo Anne was able to enjoy a traveling life after retirement, with an annual visit to Panama City Beach in Florida, cruises and bus tours, and taking the grandkids across the country at a whim. Despite what the paper said, Jo Anne claims she was not the person that dropped the starting flag for Henry's drag races with his Rocket Olds. She was a proud, loyal member of "FRIENDS."
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry J. Ramatowski, to whom she was married to for over 50 years; parents, John R. and Henrietta, nee Hyland, Keeney; and two brothers, Terrance and Bryan Keeney.
Surviving are her children, Patricia Ramatowski of Maryville, Ill., Paula (Dale) Geiger, and Polly (Derek) Keller, both of Highland, Ill., and Joseph H. (Leah) Ramatowski of Collinsville, Ill.; six grandchildren, Courtney and Alexander Ramatowski, Gabrielle and Gage Geiger, Drake and Danica Keller; a brother, Gerald "Red" (Jacque) Keeney of Oakland, Tenn.
Jo Anne asked that, in lieu of flowers, please make donation to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Online expressions of sympathy may be made at www.Richesonfh.com
