Jimmie D. Smith, 76, of Highland, born March 16, 1940 in Grandin, Mo., died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017 at his residence.

Jimmie was a real family man and enjoyed his children, grand-children and great-grandchildren.  He enjoyed raising horses and working in the gardens.  He was a member of the Royal order of the Moose.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Omar and Edna, nee Rongey, Smith; and brother, Carl David Smith.

Surviving are his wife, Carol, nee Burns, Smith of Highland, Ill.; children, Jason (Sandra) Smith of Highland, Ill., Timothy (Leslie) Smith of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Nannette (Bill) Pranaitis of St. Charles, Ill., and Lauri Smith of Highland, Ill.; 18 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Brooks; and many nieces, nephews, cousin and friends.
