Obituary

Jennifer J. Rood, 55, of Troy, IL, born July 6, 1970, in Belleville, IL and passed away at her home on March 19, 2026.

Jenny was beautiful inside and out. She was kind, strong, fiery, and loved her family to no end. Jenny adored working with preschoolers and was crazy about babies. Some of Jenny's hobbies were thrifting, growing her own vegetables, flora and fauna, eating salt, trying to navigate our healthcare system, and being on hold with Spectrum. She enjoyed her bad television programs, cheesy 80s R&B music and curling up with the kids to watch movies when Spectrum was working. Jenny's life was everything everywhere all at once, and she will be profoundly missed with beautiful memories and stories to tell. She will live on forever in our hearts.

She was preceded by her husband Steve R. Rood; her mother, Judith (nee Wuest) Currie; her sister, Michelle Boucher and her sister-in-law, Erin Rood.

Surviving are her children, Murrie Rood and Brody Rood both of Troy, IL; her father, Michael Key of Collinsville, IL; brothers, Max (Jennifer) Key of Collinsville, IL, Michael (Sandy) Key of Alton, IL; sisters, Mandy (Bryan) Cook of Pocahantas, IL and Shannon Sherbut of Marine, IL; her in-laws, Bob and Pam (nee Lancaster) Rood of Troy, IL, Brother-in-law, Mark (Valerie) Rood of Jacksonville, IL, IL; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
