Obituary
Jean Marie Spencer, 81, of Troy, Ill., born Feb. 4, 1935, in Chicago, Ill., passed away July 20, 2016 at Rosewood Care Center in Edwardsville, Ill.
Jean was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Troy, Ill. She enjoyed reading a great book, feeding and watching birds and was an active church volunteer over the years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph L. Spencer Jr., whom she married on Dec. 10, 1955, in Chicago, Ill., and he passed away May 16, 1993; sons, Joseph L. Spencer III and John M. Spencer; parents, Thomas and Margaret Whooley; brothers, Thomas and Richard Whooley; and sister, Rita Whooley.
Surviving are her children, Michael T. (Mary) Spencer and Mitchell B. (Kris) Spencer both of Ashburn, Va.; daughters, Michele (Randy) Goddard of Collinsville, Ill., and Mary Sue (Michael) Pomata of Leesburg, Va.; grandchildren, Griffin, Alysen, Meredith, Auguste, Morgan, and Lauren Spencer, Joey, Jack and Spencer Pomata and Molly Goddard; and great-grandchild, Rowan Spencer.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 22, 2016, at Richeson Funeral Home, Troy, Ill., with Rev. Tim Lewis. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Edwardsville, Ill.
