James "Boston" Powers, age 52, of Troy, passed away Sunday morning, July 13, 2003.
Mr. Powers was an electronic technician for the US Postal Service, St. Louis, MO. He was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church, Troy, and was very active with Boy Scout Troop 38 of Troy. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, VFW and DAV. He served in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
Mr. Powers was preceded in death by his parents, John David and Mary Agnes, nee Burke, Powers.
Surviving are his wife, Brenda, nee Jones, of Troy; three sons, Nicholas (Jill) Powers of Troy, Jay Powers of Collinsville, and John Powers of Troy; and a daughter, Jackelynn Powers of Troy; three brothers and six sisters, all from the Boston, Massachusetts area.
Memorials: Power's Children's College Fund or to the Boy Scout Troop 38, Troy, Illinois. These may be accepted at the funeral home.
Visitation: Wednesday, July 16, 2003 from 4:00 pm. A Prayer Service will be led by Sister Jeanette Hemmer of St. Jerome Church at 4:00 pm. VFW Post 5691 will post honors at 5:00 pm. The Knights of Columbus will lead the Rosary at 7:00 pm. Visitation will again be at 9:00 am, Thursday, July 14, 2003 at St. Jerome Church.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 am, Thursday, July 17, 2003 at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Troy, Illinois with Father Steven Janoski officiating.
