James C. "Jim" Brendel, 84, of Lake Port, Fla., born May 24, 1931, in Jarvis Township, Ill., died Saturday, June 13, 2015 in Florida.
Jim was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Moore Haven, Fla., and attended St. Jerome Catholic Church before his move to Florida. He was proud of his time spent in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th degree assembly 1723 in Seabring, Fla., a life-member of the V.F.W. Post 9528, Florida, the American Legion Post 0299, Florida, and the Moore Haven Lion's Club.
He was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Brendel; his parents, Edwin and Amanda, nee Voegele, Brendel; three brothers, John "Owen" Brendel, Maynard Brendel, and Edwin "Baldy" Brendel.
Surviving are his wife, Kathy "Jane", nee Grace, Brendel; two sons, Michael J. (Edie) Brendel of Oceechobee, Fla., and James T. (Robin) Brendel of Monterey, Va.; two daughters, Mary R. (Glen) Campbell of Conestoga, Pa., and Cynthia Brendel of Lake Port, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; a sister, Selda Reiss of Troy, Ill.; a sister-in-law, Sally Brendel of Troy, Ill.; three step-sons, Mark Wilson, Jeff (Veronica) Wilson, and Michael Lyons; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2015, at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Troy, Ill., with Fr. Pat Jakel officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Highland, Ill.
