James H. Gard, 74, of Maryville, Ill., born Dec. 25, 1937, in Troy, Ill., died Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at Liberty Village of Maryville, Ill.
Mr. Gard served in the United States Army. He was a graduate of Rankin Technical School, UAW, retired from General Motors in 1988 after 30 years of service, and was owner/operator of E and J Grass Cutting Company. James loved going camping.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Silas and Bernice, nee Johnson, Gard.
Surviving are his wife, Evelyn, nee Wideman, Gard of Maryville, Ill.; daughter, Brenda (Jason) Dill of Troy, Ill.; grandchildren, Joe Scott and Mary Dill; great-grandchildren, Colten Scott, Ella Hurtado-Dill, Jeremy Crone and Alexis Scott; sister, Carol J. (Phillip) Klein of Black Jack, Mo.; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
Memorials may be made to Liberty Village of Maryville, Ill.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2012, and 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2012, at Laughlin-Richeson Funeral Home, Troy, Ill.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2012, at the funeral home with Rev. Roger Wright officiating. Burial with military honors will be held at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Ill.
