James Shelby Byrd Jr., 61, of Troy, IL, born October 6, 1959 in East St. Louis, IL and passed away February 1, 2021 at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, IL.

James worked for the Miami Dolphins and Detroit Lions in food services.  He was an avid fisherman and loved his family especially his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, James S. Byrd Sr.; and his step dad, Toby Bourland.

Surviving are his mother, Ruth (nee Johnson) Byrd; brothers, Douglas (Rhea) Byrd of East Carondelet, IL, Mike (Debbie) Byrd of Collinsville, IL, Steven Bourland, Troy, IL; sister, Mary (Earl) Herschbacher of Belleville, IL; nieces and nephews, Mike P., Lara, Michael B., Ethan, Shelby, Billy, Anna, Aubry, Eric, Lucy and Josh.

Funeral services will be held 11 am Friday, February 5, 2021 at Richeson Funeral Home with Steve Davis officiating.  Interment will be in Valhalla Cemetery, Belleville, IL
