James C. Bailey, 88, of Troy, IL, born Thursday, August 22, 1935 in Doniphan, MO and passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024 at Eden Village in Glen Carbon, IL.

James retired from Missouri Department of Corrections as a Systems Analyst.  He was avid reader and photographer taking pictures for the Troy Times Tribune on occasion.  In his love for reading James worked with other community members to open the Troy Public Library now known as Tri-Township Public Library.  He was a talented pen and ink artist.  In his younger years he enjoyed a fast motorcycle ride and shooting targets.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James L. "Red" and Olline (nee Elliff) Bailey; and his brother, Gary Bailey.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia A. (nee Ludwig) Bailey whom he married on Thanksgiving day, November 24, 1955 in Jefferson City, MO; his children, James (Karen Scott MD) Bailey of Greenfield, MA and Cindy (Stan) Saxl of Monument, CO; grandchildren, River, Willow, Forest and Summer Scott, Emily Eden and Dean Brennan; his great-grandchildren, Aurora, Anastasia and Ares Harrison; and many dear relatives and friends.
