Jack A. Sockoch, 87, of Troy, IL, was born Monday, July 26, 1937, in Kingston, West Virginia and passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at his home in Troy, IL.
Jack was a devoted and loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and
friend who lived honestly and with integrity. He served his country, faithfully, in the United
States Air Force, retiring with 20 years of service. After he retired, he worked for 10 years as a
Civil Service Contractor at Scott Air Force Base and Charles M. Price Support Center in Granite
City, IL. Jack was the oldest Past Worshipful Master of the Lebanon Masonic Lodge. He and his
wife, Cathy, owned and operated The Wood Shop Gallery in Lebanon, IL. The business was a
family affair, employing the help of most family members, at one time or another, throughout
the years. Jack enjoyed a good fishing trip, especially with his best friend Art, camping and
golf. He loved spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren.
Surviving are his children, Cherie Love of Troy, IL, Ken (Jeannie) Sockoch of Edwardsville, IL and
Cyndi (Jeff) Rutherford of Troy, IL; grandchildren, Rici Love, Kristy (Adam) Mitchell, Emily
Rutherford Ross and Matthew (Courtney) Sockoch; great-grandchildren Aria Mitchell and
Bennett Sockoch arriving in November. He is also survived by his sisters Patsy Johnson and
Dorothy Greathouse both of Carmi, IL, brothers-in-law, Buddy Borup of Uniontown, KY and
Jerry Gough of Morganfield, KY, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Kathleen "Cathy" (nee Borup) Sockoch whom he
married June 8, 1957 in Shawneetown, IL; his parents, Joe and Mary "Fonnie" (nee LeMaster)
Cook; a sister, Phyllis Tudor; brothers-in-law, Chip Tudor, Pete Johnson and Jim Greathouse;
sisters-in-law, Carole Gough, Beverly Johnson and Betty Lou Borup.

Visitation for Jack will be 5 to 7 pm on Wednesday June 25, 2025, at Richeson Funeral home,
Troy, IL and 10 to 11 am on Thursday June 26, 2025, at Spring Valley Baptist Church, Shiloh, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Thursday June 26, 2025, at Spring Valley Baptist
Church, Shiloh, IL with Rev. Dennis Felix officiating. Interment with full Military Honors will take
place at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
