Obituary

Mr. Homer W. "Sonny" Greenfield, 85, of Troy, Illinois, born February 6, 1922 in East St. Louis, Illinois, died November 2, 2007 at his residence.

Mr. Greenfield lived in the Troy area for most of his life. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Sonny belonged to the Highland V.F.W. Post 5694 and he was a U.S.A. Veteran of WWII be belonged to Local 50 in Belleville, Illinois. Sonny enjoyed bowling and buying and selling cars and trucks. Sonny was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church in Troy, Illinois.

Mr. Greenfield is survived by his sons, Ronald Greenfield of Sanford, North Carolina, Timothy (Pamela) Greenfield of Troy, Illinois, and Ted (Glenda) Greenfield of O'Fallon, Illinois, his daughters, Mrs. Jane (Jim) Kelly of Washington, Missouri, and Mrs. Linda (linus) Marti of Greenville, Illinois, his sister, Mrs. Gloria "Tiny" Chapman of Edwardsville, Illinois, 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Greenfield is preceded in death by his parents, Homer W. and Alice (nee: Froggatt) Greenfield, his wife Nellie (nee: Earnest) Greenfield whom he married on December 24, 1944 and she passed away on January 15, 1981, his brothers, Clyde "Cussy" Greenfield and Edward Greenfield, his sisters, Emily "Puddy" Johnston, Ellen "Sis" Fosnock, Goldie Dingerson, Marilyn Jean Beal and Alice Fresen.

VISITATION HOURS: Friends may call after 4:00 P.M. on Monday, November 5, 2007 at the Laughlin Funeral Home, Troy, Illinois.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at St. Jerome Catholic Church , Troy, Illinois with Monsignor Virgil W. Mank, V.F. officiating. Burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri.

Family request memorials for Mr. Homer Greenfield be made to the Tri Township Park.
