Obituary

Mr. Henry Mannz, 89, born November 18, 1920 in Troy, Illinois, died November 23, 2009 at Cedar Ridge in Lebanon, Illinois.

Henry was a retired farmer and rural letter carrier from 1963 to 1986 with the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ, Troy, Illinois and served on the church council. Henry served as Jarvis Township Highway Commissioner from 1973 to 1978 and was a Jarvis Township Trustee. He was a member of Madison County Farm Bureau; Illinois Grain Dealers Assn.; National Rural Letter Carriers Assn. and Jarvis Township Senior Citizens. In his spare time, Henry enjoyed cards, bowling, bingo and horseshoes.

Mr. Mannz was preceded in death by his parents Gottlieb and Louisa (nee Adelhardt) Mannz, wife Virginia L. (nee Meyer) Mannz whom he married on June 1, 1947 and who died May 10, 1992, sister Ella K. Fulton, and brother-in-laws Vilray "Bill" Fulton, Sr., and Leigh Gass.

He is survived by his son, Richard H. Mannz (Theresa) of Troy, Illinois; daughter, Gloria Mannz of Troy, Illinois, granddaughter Lora Anne Mannz, sister Pauline Gass and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Friedens U.C.C. or the Cancer Society.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 27, 2009 from
5 to 8 p.m. at Laughlin-Richeson Funeral Home, Troy, Illinois and Saturday, November 28, 2009 from 9 to 10 a.m. at Friedens U.C.C.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 10 a.m. at Friedens United Church of Christ, Troy, Illinois with the Rev. Gerry Proctor officiating. Interment will be in the College Hill Cemetery, Lebanon, Illinois.
