Helen Marie Mersinger Vieth, nee Kapp, 90, of Troy, Ill., born April 9, 1921, in Highland, Ill., finished her journey peacefully surrounded by her loving family.
Helen was a member of St.
Jerome's Catholic Church in Troy, Ill., and St. John The Baptist Church in Black Jack, Ill., St. Ann Ladies Sodality and the Daughters of Isabella. She had worked at Wicks Organ Company during World War II making aircraft wings and the Highland Shoe Factory.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Theodore G. "Ted" Mersinger, whom she married on Oct. 27, 1943, and who died on Dec. 4, 1977; her second husband, Leonard "Lenny" Vieth, whom she married on Nov. 14, 1981, and who died on March 8, 1996 ; son, Dennis Mersinger; parents, Emil and Elizabeth, nee Junker, Kapp; granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Mersinger; brothers, Joseph, Herman, Leo and Carl Kapp; and sisters, Catherine Ketchum, Viola Schneider and Dorothy Voudrie.
Surviving are her sons, Gary (Sue) Mersinger of Troy, Ill., and Russell (Terri) Mersinger of Troy, Ill.; daughters, Sharon Petty of Maryville, Ill., and Connie (Mike) Sedlacek of Collinsville, Ill.; grandchil-dren, Aimee Tiernan, Wendy Baka, Aaron, Tyler, Megan and Todd Mersinger; great-grandchildren, Theodore, Dylan and Liam Tiernan and Collin Baka; brother, Burnell Kapp of Highland, Ill.; sister-in-law, Mary Kapp of Aviston, Ill.; and dear family friends, Cathy Ward and Sharon Frey.
Memorials may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Association, St. John the Baptist Chapel Foundation or in the form of Masses.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, 2011, at Laughlin-Richeson Funeral Home in Troy, Ill., and from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24, 2011, at St. Jerome Catholic Church in Troy, Ill.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24, 2011, at the church with Father Pat Jakel officiating. Interment in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Black Jack, Ill.
