Harry David Wright, 66, of Troy, Ill., born July 30, 1941, in Granite City, Ill., died Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at St. John's Mercy Medical Center, St. Louis, Mo.
Mr. Wright was a member of the Masonic Lodge 877 AF and AM Granite City, Ill., American Legion Post 708 Troy, Ill., and Marine Corp League. He was a graduate of Columbia College, Magna Cum Laude. Harry worked over four decades with Granite City Steel finishing the last 10 years of his career with the company as a consultant. He loved to fly his Mooney airplane, loved hunting duck, dove and deer with one of his great accomplishments was bagging an 18 point buck. He loved to work with wood, was an enthusiastic car restorer working on Model A's and T's Mustangs and Corvettes. Harry was also an avid history buff of both the Civil War and World War II and enjoyed finding out new facts about both.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Waldo and Daisy, (nee French) Wright.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara, (nee John) Wright whom he married on Aug. 12, 1962, in Montello, Wis.; his children, Sheryl (Todd) Moore and John David (Monica) Wright both of Troy, Ill.; grandchildren, Curtis Moore, Brendan David Wright, Amber Moore and Keaton Wright; sister, Sharon (David) Keating of Soldotna, Alaska; sister-in-law, Sandra Jurgaitis of Chicago, Ill.; and his special partners and companions, his Yorkies, Torie and Lucy and the late Butchie.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 13, 2008, at Richeson Funeral Home, Troy, Ill., and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, April 14, 2008, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Troy, Ill. A Masonic Service at 7 p.m. Sunday and an American Legion Service at 7:15 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 14, 2008, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Troy, Ill., with Rev. Darwin Schrader officiating. Burial will be in Friedens Cemetery, Troy, Ill.
