Obituary
Harold E. "Smitty" Smith, 93, of Glen Carbon, IL, born March 30, 1920, in Allentown, PA, died Saturday, October 12, 2013, at Eden Village in Glen Carbon, IL.
Mr. Smith was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ, Troy, IL, the Allentown, PA Masonic Lodge AF & AM and the Fearless Fire Company of Allentown, PA. Smitty retired as a purchasing agent for General Acceptance Corp.
He was preceded in death by his Son, Thomas A. Smith; parents Herbert E. and Helen (nee Diehl) Smith; brother William Smith.
Surviving are his son Joseph H. (Cynthia) Smith of Troy, IL; sister, Myra Neidermier of Allentown, PA; grandchildren, Wendy Wittman, Erin Smith-Twining, Michael (Ashleigh) Smith, Sean Smith, Patrick (Amanda) Smith and Kelsey Smith; great-grandchildren, Rayne, Ryan, Phillip and Audrey Smith, Devin and Breana Rockmore, Susanne Smith and Jennifer Korutz.
Memorials may be made to Friedens Cemetery, Troy, IL or Alzheimer's Association.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 am Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Friedens UCC, Troy, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Friedens UCC with Rev. Douglas Seagle officiating. Burial will be in the Friedens Cemetery, Troy, IL.
