Harold G. "JR" Rehg, 78, of St. Jacob, Ill., born April 15, 1937, in Highland, Ill., died Monday, June 29, 2015, at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, Ill.
JR attended St. Jacob United Church of Christ, St. Jacob, Ill. He was a retired captain with the St. Jacob Township Fire Protection District. He served his county in the United States Army. He was a founding member of SARA (Southwestern Auto Racing Assn.), USAC United States Auto Club), SIQMA (Southern IL Quarter Midget Assn.), and was the Highland track champion in 1964. But most of all, he loved his grandchildren, and enjoyed following the football games, and musical events they participated in.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold G. Sr. and Melva, nee Ellis, Rehg.
Surviving are his wife, Germayn, nee Witschie, Rehg; a son, Todd (Stephanie Moon) Rehg of St. Jacob, Ill.; his grandchildren, Tyler and Samantha Rehg; a brother, Gerald "Butch" Rehg of Trenton, Ill.; a sister, Janet McCarey of St. Jacob, Ill.; and many other relatives and friends.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at Aebischer-Richeson Funeral Home, St. Jacob, Ill. St. Jacob Township Fire Protection District walk through will be held at 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 2015, at the funeral home, with Rev. Gary Kniepkamp officiating. Burial will be in Keystone Cemetery, St. Jacob, Ill.
