Harold Charles Gaertner, of Troy, Illinois, age 83, born March 21, 1922, died June 6, 2005, at Rosewood Nursing Medical Center, Edwardsville, Illinois. Harold was married to Margaret "Greata" (nee:Milota) Gaertner on March 3, 1948. She passed away on September 12, 2003. Harold was a lifelong resident of Troy, a retired postal rural carrier, a member of Friedens United Church of Christ in Troy, retired from the Troy Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of Masonic Lodge #926, Scottish Rite of Belleville and Shriners of East St. Louis, Illinois.

Harold is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Sheila (Denny) Birchfield of Pinnellas Park, Florida, one brother, Carl (Wilma) Gaertner of Maryland, one sister, Gladys Huston of Troy, Illinois,two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Harold is preceded in death by his wife,Margaret "Greata", his parents, Julius and Katherine (nee:Bangert) Gaertner, and a sister, Doris Schmitt.

VISITATION: Friends may call after 4 P.M.on Thursday, June 9, 2005.
SERVICES: 10 A.M. on Friday, June 10, 2005, at Friedens United Church of Christ, Troy,IL, with Rev. Scott Hawkins officiating.
Interment: Friedens Cemetery.
Memorial's: Organ Fund at Church or Shriners Hospital.
