Gracie Mae Hackworth, 87, of Paragould, Ark., born Feb. 3, 1927,
in Leachville, Ark., was called peacefully home on Tuesday,
Jan. 6, 2015, at her home.
Many hearts are broken due to the loss of such a loving person.
Some of us knew her as Mom, others Grandma, Great-Grandma, Great-Great-Grandma, as well as many other names. At 87 years
old she never forgot any of her family, always opening her house
and showering them with her love, always ready for a game of
SKIP-BO or Dominoes.
Her second greatest love was sewing, working in the garment industry for 34 years in the St Louis regional area. She retired
and returned home to Arkansas with her husband, but never lost
her love for sewing. By making quilts for everyone she knew, with none as precious as the ones she made for all of her family. It is no exaggeration that she made nearly 1000, with many taking top
prize at local fairs.
With family living everywhere from the Gulf of Mexico to the mountains of Alaska, from the sunsets of California to the sunrise
of Virginia; Gracie was quite the traveler. There wasn't anywhere
she wouldn't go for her family. Gracie was the last of 13 sibling to pass away.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Amos Hackworth; a son, Floyd Hackworth; a daughter, Edna Dippel;
and her parents, Gil-bert and Ophelia Decker.
Surviving are her son, Roy (Donna) Hackworth of Bowling, Ky.;
her daughters, Kathryn (John) Donohue of Fairview Heights, Ill., Naomi (Thomas) Weaver of St Louis, Mo., and Sandra (Charles)
Sims of Paragould Ark.; 18 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren;
13 great-great-grandchildren; and countless nieces, nephews
cousins and friends.
Memorials may be made to Siteman Cancer Center in memory of
her daughter, Edna. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.Richesonfh.com
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015,
at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, Ill.
