Gordon McFarland, 64 of Troy,IL. born Aug.8,1941 in Troy,IL. died Friday, December 30, 2005, at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, IL.
Mr. McFarland was a retired Physical education teacher for the Edwardsville Junior High School. He attended McCrey-Dewey High School and graduated from Triad High School. He then enrolled in Central Missouri State University, Warrensburg, Mo.
Gordon was drafted by the NBA.Not to long ago Mackie was inducted into the College Hall of Fame. Mackie was on the State Championship Fast Pitch Softball Team. An vivid golfer- he played most of his golf at Locust Hills Golf Course in Lebanon, IL., in "Babe's Group" on Tuesday and Sundays and in a Senior League on Thursday's.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, Gordon and Sybil,nee Garland, McFarland;and a brother, Michael McFarland who passed away in 1966.
Surviving are his former wife, Janel Dyer of Junction City, Ore.; a son Gordon W. McFarland of Troy, IL.;two daughters, Mrs. Kimberly (Edward) White of Howell,N.J., Mrs. Sidney A. (Burke)Harrington of Vail, Colorado; a brother Keith McFarland of Troy, IL.;three sisters, Mrs. Gay (Donald) Hinnen of Sun City Az., Mrs. Sharon (Larry) Schlaefer of St. Jacob,IL.;and Mrs. Gina (James) Hays of Glen Carbon, IL.; and two grandchildren, McLaine and Cassidy White.

VISITATION: Friends may call from 4 P.M. to 8 P.M. on Monday, January 2, 2006 and from 9 A.M. to 10 A.M. on Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at St. Jerome Church.
FUNERAL: Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 A.M. Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at St. Jerome Catholic Church with Monsignor Virgil W. Mank ,V.F. officiating. Burial will take place in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Black Jack.
In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted for two memorial benches at the baseball diamond and basketball court in the Tri-Township Park. Excess funds will be donated to the Central Missouri State University athletic scholarship fund in Mack's name.
