Obituary

Gertrude Anna Baumgartner, 91, of Glen Carbon, Ill., born Feb. 7, 1918, in Trenton, Ill., died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at Eden Village Care Center, Edwardsville, Ill.

Mrs. Baumgartner was a homemaker. She was a resident of the Troy area since 1952. She was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church, St. Ann's Altar Society and Ministries unlimited.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto Baumgartner whom she married on July 28, 1936, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Pierron, Ill., and who died on Feb. 6, 1966; a son, Leonard Baumgartner; parents, Henry and Anna, nee Rasch, Feldt; daughters-in-law, Betty and Mary Jo Baumgartner; son-in-law, Ken Friess; and brothers, Randolph, Eugene and Addison Feldt.

Surviving are four sons, Jerome (Rita) Baumgartner of Alma, Ill., Henry (Carolyn) Baumgartner of Roxana, Ill., Otto (Sharon) Baumgartner of Troy, Ill., and Paul Baumgartner of Troy, Ill.; six daughters, Esther (Don) Miller of Glen Carbon, Ill., Mary (Charles) Hobbs of Marine, Ill., Christina Friess of Mascoutah, Ill., Anna (Rich) Mersinger of St. Jacob, Ill., Agnes (Frank) Raine of Maryville, Ill., and Theresa Deak of Hillsboro, Ill.; 37 grandchildren, Lenny, Mike and Danny Baumgartner, Tammy, Mitchell and Julie Swanner, Donny, Mark, Brian, Steve and Pat Miller, Tony, Eric and James Baumgartner, Karen Borchers and Renee Meinhardt, Charlie, Denny, David, Jeff and Kurt Hobbs, Kenny Friess and Debbie Bunn, Curtis Baumgartner, Lisa Arnold, Joyce Schmidt, Michelle Heffron, Susan Mazur, Laurie Langdon, Rick and Scott Mersinger, Lori Hasan, Amy Schmidt, Sarah Cason, Leanne Deak, Angela Baumgartner and Rachel Sedlacek, and Matt Baumgartner; 57 great-grandchildren, Jennifer Forrest, Jade, Todd, Kelsey Baumgartner, James and Maggi Mitchell, Jacob and Abby Conway, Gabriel Swanner, Ashley, Karyle, Nicole, Scott, Greg, Bronson, Colton, D.J., Ian and Brennan Miller, Katie Klein, Madalyn and Lydia Borchers, Kayla, Emily, Kyle, Jacob and Kiersten Baumgartner, Nathan and Courtney Meinhardt, Jacob, Justin and Matthew Hobbs, Johnathan and Samantha Friess, Jeremy Bunn, Brittany and Ethan Arnold, Nicholas Eaker, Autumn Baumgartner, Dakota and Dylan Schmidt, Maverick and Kylie Mazur, Matt, Beth and Jason Mersinger, Muneer and Nadeem Hasan, Hunter, Codie and Megan Schmidt, Taylor, Logan and Chloe Cason, Leanne Deak, Lily Sedlacek, and Phillip Hobbs; seven great-great-grandchildren, Kalyn and Clayton Forrest, Campbell Gavett, CoraLee Miller, Benjamin and Michael Eaker, and Kaylee Hobbs; and a host of nieces and nephews cousins and friends.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at Laughlin-Richeson Funeral Home, Troy, Ill., and from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Troy, Ill.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Troy, Ill, with Father Pat Jakel officiating. Burial will be at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Black Jack, Ill.
