Gerald "Jerry" Earl Schmitt, age 82, of Highland IL (formerly of St. Jacob, IL) passed away on December 28, 2023 in Breese, IL. Jerry was born on October 23, 1941 in Highland, IL, the son of Earl A. "Jack" Schmitt and Philipine (nee Becker) Schmitt.

Jerry graduated in 1959 from St. Jacob High School and in 1963 from Blackburn College in Carlinville, IL.
He was a retired sales representative and financial analyst for Shell Oil Company in St. Louis, MO and
Wood River, IL from 1963 - 1992. He worked for the Triad School District from 2000 - 2013. He was a
lifelong member of St. Jacob United Church of Christ and served in the US Army Reserves from 1965 -
1971.

He was preceded in death by his parents Earl A. and Philipine Schmitt, father-in-law Elam L. Frutiger,
step father-in-law Merl H. Huber, mother-in-law Lila Frutiger Huber, brothers-in-law Lloyd Frutiger and
Wayne Frutiger and sister-in-law Linda Frutiger.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years Carol K. (nee Frutiger) Schmitt, whom he married June 22, 1963;
daughter Beth Ann (Bruce) Frank of St. Jacob, son Darren Earl Schmitt of St. Jacob, granddaughter
Brittany Ann Frank of Collinsville, IL; granddaughter Bailey Ann Frank of St. Jacob, sister-in-law Sokun
Frutiger of Collinsville, IL; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
