George Melton, Jr. 89, of St. Jacob, IL, born Sunday, May 10, 1931 in Poplar Bluff, MO and passed on Friday, December 18, 2020 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Highland, IL.
George honorably served in United State Marines serving his country during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the VFW Post # 3583, Carlyle, IL. George had a green thumb when it came to gardening, enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting and a favorite pastime was acting sidewalk superintendent for St. Jacob.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Patricia (nee Thouvenin) Melton whom he married February 6, 1957 in Carlyle, IL and she passed away on December 19, 1998; a son, Joe Melton; a daughter, Judy Melton; a granddaughter, Jami Prader; his parents, George Sr. and Gladys (nee Howard) Melton; and brothers, Melvin F., Elmer, Eugene, Richard and Allen Melton.
Surviving are his children, Brian Melton of St. Jacob, IL, Dean Melton of Granite City, IL, Loren (Joann) Melton of Las Vegas, NV and Aaron Melton of Peirron, IL; grandchildren, April (Torsten) Coulson, Haley (Brett) Heinz, Shane Melton, Mariah Melton, Jennifer (Eric) Heather and Joshua Melton; great-grandchildren, Lola Miller, Tristan and Ava Audiss, Brecklynn Hicks, Clairissa Hilpert, Luna and Chloe Heinz; a sister Juanita "Carol" (George) Heuser of Collinsville, IL; nieces, nephews, cousin and many friends.

Friends may call 5 to 7 pm on Monday, December 21, 2020 at Aebischer-Richeson Funeral Home, St. Jacob, IL.
Funeral services will be held 7 pm on Monday, December 21, 2020 at Aebischer-Richeson Funeral Home, St. Jacob, IL. Interment with full military honors will be held on Tuesday private family at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
