George Thomas Aebel, 67, of Glen Carbon, IL, born June 17, 1948, in Tampa, FL, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2015 at his home in Glen Carbon, IL.
George was a 1966 graduate of Triad High School, where he was active in many school activities and enjoyed playing in the band and dance band. He worked for Granite City Steel and American Steel Foundries in Granite City for many years. George lived his life fast and hard and he didn't want to change, he always had a positive attitude, rarely complained. He never met a stranger and will be fondly remembered and sadly missed.
He was preceded in death by his father, Cleo F. Aebel.
Surviving are his mother, Evelyn (nee Slayton) Aebel of Troy, IL; brothers, Charles Aebel of Kirkwood, MO, James (Sally) Aebel of Edwardsville, IL, Cleo (Sandy) Aebel Jr. of Fenton, MO; sisters Mary Beth (Larry) Lorsbach of Collinsville, IL, Barbara Aebel of Troy, IL; nephew and caregiver Matthew Aebel and great niece Vanna Wheeler who cheered him up on his many Dr. visits; 22 nieces and nephews; 20 great-nieces and nephews; cousins Patricia Duncan, Mary (Greg) Luning, Jane Bernasco, Sandy Zimmerman, Carol Ann Moss, Joyce (Roger) Junk, Terry Dugger, Wally Hargrave, Marsha (Jerry) Hill, Rev. Thomas (Jeri) Hargrave and Evelyn (Charlie) Copeland.
