Gary J. Metze, 59, of Troy, IL, born May 21, 1959 in Belleville, IL, passed, suddenly Saturday, September 8, 2018.

Gary was an entertainer, he loved singing with his father and his son. He was a member of "Keep The Change," his high school garage band for over 40 years, Black Tie Affair and Gateway Quartet. Gary was a graduate of SIUE where he earned a degree in music. A highlight of his life was touring Europe with the SIUE Concert Chorale. He enjoyed tinkering with and fixing cars for the family and especially the ongoing pet project restoring his '74 Super Beetle convertible. He enjoyed rides with the dogs in the convertible. Most of all he loved his wife, Carrie and son, Kyle more than anything in the world.

Gary was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth T. Metze; brother, Clif Metze and his father-in-law, James L. Deeren.

Surviving are his wife, Carrie (nee Deeren) Metze of Troy, IL; son, Kyle Metze of Troy, IL; mother, Carolyn I. (nee Veath) Metze of Belleville, IL; brothers, Brian (Sandy) Metze and Todd (Kim) Metze both of Belleville, IL; mother-in-law, Audrey Dereen of Troy, IL; sister-in-law, Deborah Jane (Kevin) Wiese of Troy, IL; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews cousins, his fur babies, Ozzie and Maisy; and many dear friends.

Funeral services will be held 11 am Thursday, September 13, at Friedens United Church of Christ, with Rev. Phil Kershner officiating.
