Georgia Maxine Carson, 94, of Troy, Ill., born May 21, 1917, in Granite City, Ill., died Friday, July 8, 2011, at her home.
Mrs. Carson was a registered nurse. She was a member of Troy United Methodist Church, Beta Sigma Phi, American Legion Auxiliary, Nurses Alumni Association, Jarvis Township Senior Center Volunteer, and Pink Ladies at Anderson Hospital and Ministries Unlimited. She was very dedicated to her family and friends always giving and caring, volunteering was her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilmer Howard Carson Sr.; parents, Henry and Blanche, nee Rector, Schleeter; sister, Marciel Thebeau; and son-in-law, John A. Mercurio.
Surviving are her son, Wilmer "Corky" (Pam) Howard Carson Jr., of Indianapolis, Ind.; daughters, Carole Mercurio of Troy, Ill., and Cheryl (John) Voegele of Highland, Ill.; grandchildren, Michelle (Charles) Merchant, Amy (William) Camp, Sara (Jeffrey) Warren, Melanie Newman, Mindy (Darren) Hediger, Beth (Kevin) DiRenzo, Tiffany Mercurio, Thomas Haggard, Jason Voegele, and Jake Mercurio; great-grandchildren, Brianna and Alexis Merchant, Emily and Grace Camp, Jake and Josh Warren, Ryan Newman, Megan Hediger, Brendan Varner, Hunter Hediger and Braydon Haggard; and brother, Donald (Emma) Schleeter of Granite City, Ill.
Memorials may be made to Troy United Methodist Church, Jarvis Township Senior Center or Family Hospice.
Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2011, at Troy United Methodist Church, Troy, Ill.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2011, at the church with Rev. Dennis Price officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Hills Cemetery, Glen Carbon, Ill.
