Frank J. Ebl, 87, of Troy, Ill., born Aug. 1, 1921 in St. Louis, Mo., died Monday, March 16, 2009, at his home.
Mr. Ebl was retired machinist from Anheuser-Busch in St. Louis, Mo. He was a member of Troy VFW Post 976, American Legion Post 708 in Troy, Ill., and had served in the U.S. Navy from 1940 to 1946 aboard the USS Boise.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Helen, nee Stief, Ebl; and two brothers, Anthony and Michael Ebl.
Surviving are his wife, Hilda M., nee Werner, Ebl; children, Rick Ebl of Glen Carbon, Ill., and Nancy (Brian) Gatza of Dundee, Ill.; grandchildren, Chris Ebl, Mike (Cathy) Gatza and Sara (Kale) Goffman; and great-grandchild. Riley Ebl.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or a church of your choice.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at Laughlin-Richeson Funeral Home in Troy, Ill.
Funeral Service with full military honors will be held at 10:15 a.m. Thursday, March 19, 2009, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo. Interment will follow in the cemetery.
