Evelyn D. Alexander, 88, of Glen Carbon, Ill., born June 4, 1927, in Alamo, Tenn., died Monday, March 28, 2016, at Meridian Village, Glen Carbon, Ill.
Evelyn was a long time member of Good Shepard Lutheran Church, Collinsville, Ill. She was a member of the VFW Post 5691 Ladies Aux. in Collinsville, Ill. She was a Rebekah. She enjoyed working in her flower garden, going to the Highland stock car races, and was an avid Cardinal Baseball fan. Most of all she loved and was loved by her family, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert W. Alexander, whom she married Oct. 1, 1962, in Collinsville, Ill., and who died on April 18, 2014; parents, Clint R. and Lillie M. (nee Perigen) Johnson; son, Jimmie Peterson; two brothers, William and Wesley Johnson; and five sisters, Mildred Dexter, Dimple Brightwell, Barbara Walrond, Shelby White, and Reba Johnson.
Surviving are her daughters, Diane (Tom) Eilering of Troy, Ill., and Pam (Steve) Voegele of Marine, Ill.; a son, Jerry Peterson of Cedar Hill, Mo.; her grandchildren, Christopher and Justin Eilering, April (Nathan) Mason, Dustin and Derek Voegele; her great-grandchildren, Tyler and Donovan Eilering, and Nate Mason; her sisters, Brenda (Bob) Capps of Farmington, Mo., and Shirley (Bob) Pepper of Pevely, Mo.; and a sister-in-law, Susie Johnson of Cahokia, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2016, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, March 31, 2016, at Richeson Funeral Home, Troy, Ill.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 31, 2016, at the funeral home, with Rev. Mike Walther officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Ill.
