Ethel L. Henning, 96, of Troy, Ill., born Nov. 8, 1912, in Belleville, Ill., passed away at 6:15 p.m. Sunday, March 1, 2009, at Cedar Ridge Healthcare Center in Lebanon, Ill.
Mrs. Henning was a member of Troy United Methodist Church in Troy, Ill. She was a homemaker and later worked for Famous-Barr for 15 years. Ethel was an avid bridge player and quilter. She and her husband traveled throughout the United States, Europe and the Caribbean.
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, David and Louise, nee Miller, Young; brothers, Earl and Arthur; sisters, Evelyn (Lee) Brace and Myrtle (Earl) Vandemore.
Surviving are her husband of 67 years, Clarence A. Henning, whom she married May 4, 1941, in Springfield, Ill.; daughters, Carol (Terry) Taake of Troy, Ill., and Kay (Sy) Korte of Lebanon, Ill.; son, Don (Lynn) Henning of St. Louis, Mo.; grandchildren, Mark (Angie) Taake, Stacy (Eric) Postma, Ty Taake, Derek (Jennifer) Korte, Leah (Jeremy) Corbitt, Gina (Nathan) Nelson, Christina, Lani and Michael Henning; and great-grandchildren, Evan, Spencer and Adam Korte, Allysa and Aidan Postma, and Allison and Joseph Corbitt.
Memorials may be made to the Troy United Methodist Church or the Heartland Hospice of Fairview Heights, Ill.

Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 6, 2009, at Troy United Methodist Church in Troy, Ill., with the Rev. Dennis Price officiating. Interment will be in Friedens Cemetery in Troy, Ill.
