Obituary
Mr. Ernest Phillip Hammersmith, age 91, of Troy, Illinois, born June 21, 1918 in Buffalo, New York, died December 5, 2009 at his residence.
Mr. Hammersmith was a veteran and prior to retirement worked as a construction superintendent.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents Ernest Christian and Harriett Lenore, nee Phillips, Hammersmith.
He is survived by his children, John (Jacquelyn) Hammersmith of Troy, Illinois; Phyllis (Al) Horstmann of Plano, Texas, and Linda (Larry) Ray of Coppel, Texas; grandchildren, Deann (John) Huegele, Rob Horstmann, Max Ray and Rex Ray.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fisher House at Jefferson Barracks, St. Louis, MO.
According to Mr. Hammersmith's wishes, cremation was held.
