Elvera Francis Bostrom, 94, of Troy, Ill., born Oct. 8, 1920, in Missouri, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, at her home.
Elvera was a 55 year member of Bethel Baptist Church, where she was active as a Sunday school teacher for many years. She retired from SIUE as a library assistant in cataloging and was a graduate of SIUE class of "73". She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed making clothes for her family. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Bostrom whom she married on Dec. 16, 1943, and who died July 26, 1995; son, Robert A. Bostrom; parents, Robert and Osa, nee Reynolds, Lewis; brother, Cecil Lewis; and sister, Doreen Stiles.
Surviving are her children, Peter A. Bostrom of Troy, Ill., Mary Kay (Jeff) Lype of Shiloh, Ill., and Linda (Bob) Hewitt of Marine, Ill.; daughter-in-law, Carmen Bostrom of Marine, Ill.; grandchildren, Kyle and Steve Hewitt, Dan and Tom (Kate) Lype and April C. (Lee) Hope; and her great-grandchildren, Hannah and Hunter Hope.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015, at the funeral home with Rev. Jim Wiens officiating. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Black Jack, Ill.
