Mr. Elmer Gindler, age 85, of Troy, passed away Sunday morning, September 7, 2003 at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, Illinois. Mr. Gindler was a farmer. He was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ, Troy, where he served on the church counsel and the church cemetery board. He also served on the board of the Troy Grain Elevator. He was a past member of the Troy Volunteer Fire Department trustee board, a member of the Jarvis Senior Citizens and Madison County Farm Bureau. He was a self-taught musician, a talented woodcarver and an avid horseshoe pitcher.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 63 years, Loretta and his daughter, Beverly (Don) Turner of Glen Carbon, Illinois; a sister, Irene Gindler Druessel Kotzman of Troy and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Anna (Kirsch) Gindler, an infant son and three brothers, Oscar, Walter, and Harold Gindler.
