Ella Catherine McLemore, nee Brooks, 83, of Troy, Ill., born June 13, 1927, in Eddyville, Ky., died Friday, March 4, 2011, at The Fountains of Troy.
Mrs. McLemore was a homemaker. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in St. Jacob, Ill., and the Lady's Auxiliary of Alton and Southern Railroad. Ella loved quilting, doing embroidery, bowling, bingo, golf, gardening and canning the vegetables that she grew. She truly loved and enjoyed her family.
Ella was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. McLemore; parents, Gid and Dolly B., nee Bruce, Brooks; brothers, Buford, Raymond, Kenneth and Charles Brooks; and sister, Mariam Brooks.
Surviving are her sons, Edward L. (Linda) McLemore of Troy, Ill., and Marvin W. (Connie) McLemore of Mascoutah, Ill.; daughters, Sandra K. (Jim) Gaines of Columbia, Ill., Ella F. (Frank) Smith of DeKalb, Ill., and Karen G. (James) Rahar of Troy, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Christine (James) Revelle of Jackson, Mo.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or the American Cancer Society.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2011, at Laughlin-Richeson Funeral Home in Troy, Ill.
Service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at the funeral home with the Rev. Terry Huckabee officiating. Interment in Marine City Cemetery in Marine, Ill.
