Eleanor Jane Adelhardt, 84, of Maryville, Ill., born Nov. 20, 1923, in Poag, Ill., died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008, at her home.
Mrs. Adelhardt was a homemaker. She was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ and the Women's Guild at Friedens. She volunteered as a pink lady at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Ill., and worked with the Madison County Home Extension. She enjoyed her bowling and golfing leagues and working with the Girl Scouts in her earlier years. Jane loved her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Evelyn, nee Shafer, Southard; three brothers, Warren, Robert and Clinton Southard; and a sister, Norma Lynn Southard.
Surviving are her husband, Clarence Adelhardt, whom she married March 21, 1942 at Camp Polk, LA, ; three daughters, Cindy (Dennis) Westfall of Troy, Ill., Cris (Mark) Berg of Troy, Ill., and Carol Sue (Wayne) Giles of Kansas City, Kan.; seven grandchildren, Brent (Jenny) Giles and Steven (Kim) Giles, Julie (Rodney) Purnell, David Lochmann and Scott (Kim) Lochmann, Alison Berg and Amanda Berg; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008, at Laughlin~Richeson Funeral Home in Troy, Ill. and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at Friedens United Church of Christ.
The Troy Fire Department will conduct a walk through at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Friedens United Church of Christ or Hospice of Southern Illinois.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, 2008, at Friedens United Church of Christ in Troy, Ill., with the Rev. Scott Hawker officiating. Interment will be in Friedens Cemetery in Troy, Ill.
