Mr. Douglas Larry Goodwin, 75, of Troy, Illinois, born April 27, 1930, in Aberdeen, Mississippi, died July 5, 2005, at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri.

Mr. Goodwin was in the United States Air Force. He retired as a Communication Specialist for 34 years. He was a member of the Troy American Legion Post #365, V.F.W. Post #5691, a past member of St. John Lutheran Church Property Committee and Usher of the Church. Mr. Goodwin was an excellent carpenter, he was always considerate of others and willing to help eveyone. Mr. Goodwin was very talented.

Mr. Goodwin was preceded in death by his parents, J.C. Goodwin and Ethel O. (nee: Finley) Goodwin, a daughter, Cindy Goodwin, brothers, J.C., William, Dallas and Lawrence Goodwin.

Mr. Goodwin is survived by his wife, Dorothy A. (nee: Bartman) Goodwin, two daughters, Melinda Stein and Lisa Goodwin, both of Troy, Illinois, and two grandsons, Joshua and Jacob Stein.

Visitation: Friends may call at the Laughlin Funeral Home from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. on Thursday, July 7, 2005.

Memorial Service: Thursday, July 7, 2005 at 7 P.M. at the Funeral Home "Chapel" with Pastor Maxwell officiating. Additional visitation and funeral service will be at Lee Memorial Funeral Home in Verona, Mississippi on Saturday, July 9, 2005. Interment immediately following at Lee Memorial Cemetery, Verona, Mississippi. Memorials are to American Cancer Society.
