Mrs. Doris Jean Ponder, 66, of Troy, Illinois, born January 12, 1939 in East St. Louis, Illinois, died Sunday, September 11, 2005 at St. Mary's Hospital, Clayton, Missouri.
Mrs. Ponder lived in Troy since 1970 coming from East St. Louis, Illinois. Mrs. Ponder worked as a Voucher Analysis for the U.S. Government. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Troy, Illinois.
Mrs. Ponder is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Mamie (nee: Gant) Ponder and four brothers, George Holten, Frankie Holten, Jimmy Holten and Edward Holten.
Mrs. Ponder is survived by her husband, Frank Ponder whom she married on September 26, 1959, one son, James Patton of Edwardsville, Illinois, one step-daughter, Mrs. Betty (Louis) Welch of Keller, Texas, and four grandchildren, Mrs. Leslie (Jacob) Salazar, Louis Welch, and Dylan and Emily Patton.
VISITATION HOURS:Friends may call at the Laughlin Funeral Home from 9 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. on Wednesday, September 14, 2005. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, September 14, 2005 at 11:30 A.M. at the Laughlin Funeral Home "Chapel". Interment will be at Friedens Cemetery, Troy, Illinois, with Brother Timothy Lewis officiating. Memorials are to the Kidney Foundation.
