Donald L. "Don" Giger, 80, of St. Jacob, IL, born October 5, 1937 in Highland, IL, passed away on Friday, October 6, 2017 at Breese Nursing Home, Breese, IL.

Don was a life long resident of St. Jacob, IL and a member of St. Jacob United Church of Christ.  He was the former Mayor of St. Jacob, IL, and past club president and  charter member of St. Jacob Lion's Club.  Don was one of the founding members of St. Jacob Township Park, serving as the park's first commissioner.  He was a professional tinker and loved working in his yard and garden, he was also a Khory league coach.  He loved trout fishing and really enjoyed his fishing trips with his family the last few years. Most of all he loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol L. (nee Blumer) Giger whom he married August 28, 1957 and who passed away December 7, 2012; his parents, Harold and Verna(nee Clayton) Giger.

Surviving are his children, Donna (Daniel) Mondt of Aviston, IL, Jeff (Diane) Giger of St. Jacob, IL, David (Renee Crews) Giger of Troy, IL and Tim (Doreen) Giger of Troy, IL,; grandchildren, Ashley (Nic) Klaus, Trey (Kayla) Giger, Kristy (Chad) Troxell, David (Sarah Hamm) Giger, Travis Mondt and Amber Mondt; great-grandchildren, Luke and Cooper Klaus, Oliver and Myles Troxell and Graham and Landon Giger; sister, Sharon (Rick) Hanford of St. Jacob, IL; sister-in-laws, Joanne Meyer, Judy (Willard) Gindler and Phyllis (Tom) Korte; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
