Donald Lee "Don" Brendel, 79, of Troy, IL, born July 17, 1938 in St. Louis, MO, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2018, surrounded by his family at Highland Health Care Center.

Don was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ. He served his country faithfully in the Navy. Don was a member of the IBEW St. Louis Local Union 1. He was a Khory League Coach, enjoyed watching the Cardinals play ball and almost any other sports activity.

He was preceded in death by his son, Kent Brendel; and parents, Aloys and Leona (nee Russell) Brendel.

Surviving are his wife, Kay (nee Schulz) Brendel of Troy, IL; sons, Steve and David Brendel of Troy, IL; grandchildren, Andrew, Jesse, Seth and Bryanna; 2 great-grandchildren; brothers, Keith (Donna) Brendel of Highland, IL, Douglas (Debbie) Brendel of Maryville, IL; brother-in-law, Ray (Ana) Schulz of St. Louis, MO; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
