Obituary
Donald E. Behrend, of Maryville, Illinois, age 81, born September 16, 1923 in Decatur, Illinois, died June 22, 2005 at Maryville Manor Nursing Home.
Donald lived in Troy since 1984 and was of the Lutheran faith. He received State and National awards from St. Charles Lions Club, St. Charles Chamber of Commerce and St. Charles JC's. Donald was very active in Troy Lions Club and very active in Lionism, Edwardsville, IL. Since 1965 Donald was a member of Moose Lodge #1561 and a life member of VFW and American Legion.
Donald married Margaret (nee:Tessaro) Behrend on September 21, 1957 at Mother of Perpetual Help Church, Maryville, IL. His wife survives along with two sisters, Mrs. Vera M. Walker of Citrus, CA, and Mrs. Betty (Joe) Mullen of Greenville, SC, one brother-in-law, Mike Tessaro and host of nephews and nieces. Donald is preceded in death by his parents, Henry E. Behrend and Recil (nee:Bethel) Behrend, and a sister-in-law, Mary Schlemer.
Visitation will be Friday, June 24, 2005 from 9 A.M. to 11 A.M.
Funeral Service will be Friday at 11 A.M., June 24, 2005 at the Funeral Home.
Interment will be in Fairland
Cemetery Maryville, IL, with Rev. Sig Bjorkland of St. Luke's United Methodist Church ,Maryville, IL. and Father W. Jeffry Holtman,S.F.O. of Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Maryville, IL. officiating. Memorials are to Troy Lions Club or St. Luke's UMC, Maryville, IL.
