Derek Nungesser, 25, of Highland, Ill., born Aug. 27, 1983, in Granite City, Ill., died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Mo.

Derek loved fishing, hunting and was a member of Edwardsville Gun Club.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Clifford Stahlhut and Orville Nungesser.

Surviving are his wife, Jessica, nee Fischer, Nungesser of Highland, Ill.; two sons, Eryk and Austin Nungesser of Highland, Ill.; a daughter, Randallynn Nungesser of Highland, Ill.; parents, Alan and Gayle, nee Stahlhut, Nungesser of Troy, Ill.; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Char and Rich Fischer of St. Louis, Mo.; grandmothers, Shirley Stahlhut of Troy, Ill., and Anna Nungesser of St. Jacob, Ill.; and a sister, Megan Nungesser of Troy, Ill.

Memorials may be made to Derek's children, Eryk, Austin and Randallynn.

Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, at Laughlin-Richeson Funeral Home, Troy, Ill.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, at Laughlin-Richeson Funeral Home, Troy, Ill., with Rev. Scott Hawker officiating. Burial will be at Keystone Cemetery, St. Jacob, Ill.
