Dennis Joseph Polfliet, 47, of Troy, Ill., born Sept. 18, 1966, in Pontiac, Mich., died Saturday, April 26, 2014, at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, Ill.

Dennis was a member of Troy United Methodist Church, Troy, Ill. He retired as a Master Sgt. From the United States Air Force, receiving many major awards and decorations during his career. He was a member of VFW Post 976 in Troy, Ill., and loved golfing, fishing, hunting, softball and watching Cubs baseball; but most of all he loved the time spent with his family, especially his three children.

Surviving are his wife, Paula C., nee Brown, Polfliet; children, Jessica T. Polfliet of Chicago, Ill., and Jeremy T. Polfliet and Joseph R. Polfliet, both of Troy, Ill.; parents, Donald and Patsie, nee Wooten, Polfliet Sr. of Roscoe, Ill.; three sisters, Donna Larson of Beloit, Wis., Diane (Gary) Schrimpsher of Oregon, Ill., and Darlene (Stuart) Taylor of Rockford, Ill.; two brothers, Don (Kris) Polfliet Jr. of Rockton, Ill., and Darrell (Tierra) Polfliet of Rockford, Ill.; and by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Memorials may be made to the scholarship fund for his children.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at the funeral home, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Troy United Methodist Church, Troy, Ill.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at the church with Rev. Dennis Price officiating. Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
