David F. "Dave" Rickert, 76, of Troy, Ill., born Aug. 11, 1939, in Granite City, Ill., passed away Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville, Ill.
Dave was very proud of his time spent in the United States Navy. He was a member of the VFW Post 976 in Troy, Ill. He loved his motorcycle rides, camping, woodworking and travel. Dave loved his family and any occasion to spend time with them.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Helen V., nee Foster, Rickert; brother, Frank Rickert; and sister, Virginia Turner.
Surviving are his wife, Katherine V., nee Bugger, Rickert of Troy, Ill.; children, David (Sophie Kwan) Rickert Jr., of San Francisco, Calif., Michael (Jan) Koonce of Terre Haute, Ind., Dot (Mike) Washburn of Greenville, Ill., Nancy Koonce of Greenville, Ill., Candi Sanders of Granite City, Ill., and Wendi West of Maryville, Ill.; grandchildren, Zachary Heilig, Guage Garmon, Tabatha DeBlois, Brandon and Kaitlyn "Grandpa's little angel", Washburn, Charlie Fiscus, Samuel Dalton, Spencer Sanders, Kiera and Morejiah West; great-grandchildren, Rylin and Kember DeBlois, Wyatt and Eli Garmon; sisters, Eleanor Sellers of Granite City and Peggy Thyer of Bunker Hill, Ill.; and his best buddy and friend, Lou Walker.
