Obituary

Mr. David William Baglin, Sr., age 71 years, born in Troy, IL, died September 30, 2005 at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, IL.

Mr. Baglin lived his entire life in Troy, IL.Mr. Baglin was retired after 36 years as an Iron Worker at Granite City Steel Co. He was a past member of Odd Fellows of Troy, Troy Lions Club, present member of the American Legion Post #708 of Troy, an active member of the Troy United Methodist Church where he was custodian for over 40 years, Parking Lot Security for Triad High School, in charge of the transportation of the mail for Triad District. Mr. Baglin was the person who video taped football games and various other sports. He was also in charge of the concession stands for all home games, keeping them stocked and functioning. Mr. Baglin had a special interest in the less fortunate children. Dave loved fishing and bowling and his hobby was wood crafting. Mr. Baglin helped out Ministries Unlimited as posing as Santa Claus during the holidays. He was a past volunteer for the Troy Ambulance and the Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Baglin wore many hats in the Troy Community, which showed his love for the people in the community.

Mr. Baglin was preceded in death by his parents, Robert William and Mary Elizabeth (nee:Rees) Kelly Baglin.

Mr. Baglin is survived by his wife, Charlotte (nee:Reynolds) Baglin, whom he married on May 25, 1957, four sons, David W. Baglin, Jr. of Highland, IL, Robert (Lora) Baglin of Sanderson, FL, Kevin Baglin of Troy, IL, and Jimmy (Dana) Baglin of Staunton,IL, two daughters, Mrs. Karen (Lou) Walker of Troy, IL, and Miss Debbie Baglin of Troy, IL, one brother Robert (Connie) Baglin of Ft. Wayne, IN, one sister Mary Ann Purcell of Troy, IL, nine grandchildren, Brian, Allan, Jordan, Robert, Adam, Daniel and Joey Baglin, Crystal (David) Roth and Norman (Sara) Walker, and one great-grandchild, Joshua Roth.

VISITATION: Friends may call after 4 P.M. at the Laughlin Funeral Home on Monday, October 3, 2005. Funeral Services will at 10 A.M. on Tuesday, October 4, 2005 at the Troy United Methodist Church. Interment will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO. Memorials are to be made to the Family.
