Darlene G. Buchanan, 92, of Highland, IL, born Tuesday, November 4, 1930 in Marissa, IL and passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 17, 2023 surrounded by her family at her home in Highland, IL.

Darlene grew up in Marissa, IL and graduated from Marissa High School Class of "47" She attended the Methodist Church in Troy, IL and Zolfo Springs, FL.  She retired from the United States Postal Service after many years of dedicated service.  After retirement she met the love of her life, Douglas Buchanan of St. Louis, MO.  They moved to Zolfo Springs, FL where they enjoyed many years of golfing, entertaining friends, neighbors and welcoming family vacationing in Florida.

Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas; daughter, Lou Ann Casper; son, Mark Holmes, parents, Frank Sr. and Grace (nee Bailey) Hennrich; sister, Eva Boman, brother, Frank Hennrich Jr.; and her son-in-law, David Gagne.

Surviving are her daughter, Jean (Race McMahon) Gagne of Highland, IL; her grandchildren, Shawna (Abigail) Holshouser, Matt Hewitt, Luke (Chrissy) Hewitt, Jake (Jena) Hewitt and Shae Eaton; great-grandchildren, Sierra Holshouser, Grant, Kennedy, Jaxton and Jacelyn Hewitt, Cruz and Quinnlyn Eaton; her brother-in-law, Kenneth Holmes; five nephews, and many dear friends.

Visitation for Darlene will be 2 to 4 pm on Sunday, September 24,2023 at Aebischer-Richeson Funeral Home, St. Jacob, IL.

Services will be held at 4 pm on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at 4 pm.  Interment will be in Florida next to her husband Douglas.
