Daniel Eugene "Danny the Barber" McAley Jr., 69, of Troy, Ill., born March 31, 1945, in Providence, R.I., passed away Friday, April 11, 2014, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.

"Danny the Barber" owned and operated for 30 years Danny's Barber Shop in Troy, Ill., and had worked previously at Darrell's Barber Shop in Collinsville, Ill. He attended Belleville Barber College.

Danny was a member of Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Maryville, Ill., Troy Knights of Columbus Council 9266 and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Troy Council 3442. He served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a member of Mississippi Valley Barber Shop Chorus, Collinsville, Ill., and loved collecting barber shop memorabilia, clocks, watches, and light houses. He was a St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan and loved Ford Mustang autos.

He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel McAley Sr.

Surviving are his wife, Mary "Sharon", nee Childress, McAley of Troy, Ill.; sons, Daniel E. (Cecelia) McAley III of Alhambra, Ill., and Patrick (Sommer) McAley of Troy, Ill.; grandchildren, Madison, Zoey, Jeremy, Rebecca and Sam McAley, Allyson Weber and Jessica "Jessie" and Wes Gibbs; great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Gabriel and Anastasia McAley; his mother, Marion A., nee Marsch, Quinn of Johnston, R.I.; and his brother, Robert I. (Cynthia) McAley of Johnston, R.I.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2014, at Richeson Funeral Home, Troy, Ill., and 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Maryville, Ill.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Maryville, Ill., with Father Joseph Havrilka officiating. Burial will be at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery, Collinsville, Ill.
