Daniel G. Steele, 78, of Troy, Ill., born Feb. 24, 1932, in East St. Louis, Ill., died on Monday, April 19, 2010, at his home.
Mr. Steele had attended Collinsville First Assembly of God faithfully and his greatest passion in life was God and his family. He retired from Granite City Steel in 1981 after 30 years of service. He was a contractor and owner of D & L Plumbing in Troy, Ill. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany in 1953 in a company known as "Hell on Wheels," serving as a tank mechanic.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Eva, nee Green, Steele; and a sister, Pauline Gamboa.
Surviving are his wife, Myrna, nee Cook, Steele of Troy, Ill., whom he married on March 15, 1952; sons, Bruce (Judy) Steele of Troy, Ill., and Keith (Linda) Steele of Pocahontas, Ill.; daughters, Janet Wilson of Troy, Ill., and Annette (Frank) Menchak of Troy, Ill.; grandchildren, Brian (Tami) Steele, Ryan (Aledia) Wilson, Christina (Luke) Hewitt, Leigh Ann Steele, Andrew "AJ" Steele, William Menchak, Allison Menchak and Danielle Menchak; great-grandchildren, Kayleigh George, Grant Hewitt and Makena Steele; brother, Donald Steele of Waterloo, Ill.; sisters, Norma (Jim) Stanek of Troy, Ill., Virginia Reinacher of New Mexico and Ruth Ann Oller of Troy, Ill., sister-in-law, Phyllis (Richard) Rankin of Troy, Ill.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at Laughlin-Richeson Funeral Home in Troy, Ill., and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 22, 2010, at Collinsville First Assembly of God, 1105 West Beltline, Collinsville, Ill.
Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 22, 2010, at the church with the Rev. Jeffrey L. Gowan officiating. Interment in Friedens Cemetery, Troy, Ill.
